Sahel Capital, an investment manager focused on the food and agriculture sectors across sub-Saharan Africa, has closed a $650,000 loan facility to Noma Services Consolidated Limited through its Social Enterprise Fund for Agriculture in Africa (SEFAA). The debt package comprises $400,000 allocated for working capital and $250,000 for capital expenditure.
Noma Services Consolidated Limited, incorporated in 2021 with operations established in 2018, is an Abuja-headquartered agribusiness specializing in the aggregation and processing of core staple commodities, including rice, maize, sorghum, and beans. The company operates central aggregation hubs in Mabushi, Niger State, and Kaduna State, alongside regional hubs in Kano State and Jigawa State.
The capital deployment addresses operational liquidity and equipment procurement, enabling Noma to deepen its aggregation capacity across its sourcing network. Noma Services supplies commercial FMCG off-takers by sourcing from a network of over 11,000 smallholder farmers. Through this facility, Noma will advance its transition from an input-financing model toward a more scalable direct commodity aggregation approach, while continuing to support its farmer network through tractor provisions and irrigation facilities to enhance farming efficiency.
The transaction aligns with SEFAA’s broader mandate to provide structured debt to high-impact agribusiness SMEs across 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, driving rural development, supporting smallholder farmers, and enhancing food security in Nigeria.
Alongside SEFAA, Sahel Capital manages the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN), which targets SME agribusinesses across Nigeria. The fund manager is also raising capital for a successor vehicle, Sahel Capital Agribusiness Fund II, which will focus on investment opportunities across West Africa.
